Did You Know? The Lord Has a Way of Returning Other Than With Clouds in the Last Days

second coming of jesus

At present, disasters such as earthquakes, famines, and plagues occur more and more frequently all over the world, and the prophecies of the Lord’s return have been pretty much fulfilled. Many people sense that the Lord has likely returned already. But why have we not yet seen the Lord coming on a cloud to appear to us? The fact is that there are mysteries behind the Lord’s return. Let’s first look at several prophecies. “Behold, I come as a thief” (Revelation 16:15). “Be you therefore ready also: for the Son of man comes at an hour when you think not” (Luke 12:40). “For as the lightning, that lightens out of the one part under heaven, shines to the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation” (Luke 17:24–25). Here it is prophesied that the Lord will come “as a thief” and “at an hour when we think not”, which means He will come quietly and secretly. The “Son of man” refers to One who is born of man and a flesh possessed of normal humanity, just like the Lord Jesus who was called the Son of man and Christ. Therefore, the “Son of man” in these prophecies means that in the last days the Lord will become flesh and come before people are aware of it.

Being a Wise Virgin and Welcoming the Lord

By Qingxin, United States

Wondering Whether I Was a Wise Virgin

Long ago, I saw many pastors say online, “We are in the last days, and many biblical prophecies have been fulfilled, such as the blood moons, earthquakes, tsunamis, plagues, famines, and the restoration of Israel—the Lord is coming very soon. Only by being like the wise virgins and preparing oil can we welcome the Lord’s return. This requires us to fast and pray more, frequently attend Holy Communion, read the Bible more, diligently do the Lord’s work, and wait watchfully.” Then I started practicing according to what the pastors said. But after a few years of this, no matter how I read the Bible, prayed, and attended meetings, there was no steadiness in my heart; and I kept wondering, “Can carrying on like this really make me a wise virgin and welcome the Lord’s return?”

How Exactly Will the Lord Appear to People Upon His Return?

And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory” (Mat 24:30). “Behold, He comes with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him” (Rev 1:7).

It Will Be Too Late If We Believe Only After Seeing the Lord Descend on a Cloud!

2000 years ago, the Lord Jesus told His disciples the signs of His return in the last days, “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:7-8).

I Found the True Light – second coming of Jesus

Qiuhe Japan

I was born in a Catholic family. Since I was little, I attended Mass at church with my grandparents. Due to the influence of my environment and my belief in God, I learned to chant many different scriptures and practice various rituals.

In 2009, I arrived in Japan to study. One time, in a fellow student’s dorm room, I met by chance a Christian small group leader who had come to spread the gospel. I thought: Protestants and Catholics believe in the same God. They both believe in the Lord Jesus. As a result, I accepted the small group leader’s invitation to join him at the church. After listening to the pastors preach and hearing some brothers and sisters talk about the Bible, I had some understanding about the Lord Jesus’ life. This caused me to have more faith in the Lord. However, after a few months, the pastors and the preachers asked us to donate tithe every week. Also, each week, we were to hand out pamphlets to spread the gospel. Sometimes, we were so tired that we would snooze during Sunday service. We no longer had a normal routine in our life. At that time, some of us were both working and studying. Not only did we have to make money to pay for our studies, but we also needed money for our everyday expenses. Our lives were already quite difficult, but they still wanted us to give them our money and our energy. We were under a lot of stress and pain. Gradually, I discovered that the pastors and the preachers were not truly people that served the Lord. Normally, since they were those who shepherded the church, they should have been helping us grow in our spiritual lives. However, they did not care about our lives. They did not think at all about our practical problems. Instead, they wanted our energy and our money. Everything they did was to help expand their church and consolidate their status and their influence. At this time, we felt like we had been deceived. Consequently, a few of my brothers and I left the church.

How Will the Lord Return in the Last Days?

By Wu Wen, Italy

Many brothers and sisters in the Lord eagerly wait for the Lord to return and think that the Lord will come in His resurrected spiritual body descending with the clouds. Because the Bible says, “You men of Galilee, why stand you gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen Him go into heaven” (Act 1:11), “Behold, He comes with clouds” (Rev 1:7). Most people wait for the Lord to suddenly descend with the clouds one day. For thousands of years, Christians have longed for it so.

What Are the Wise Virgins? What Is the Secret of Success to Attend the Feast as a Wise Virgin?

The Parable of the Wise Virgins

The Lord Jesus said, “Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened to ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go you out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go you rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Truly I say to you, I know you not” (Matthew 25:1–12).

Notions Keep You From Welcoming Jesus’ Return

By Sun Nan

We all know that it is now near the end of the last days. The prophecies in the Bible have basically been fulfilled. It is time for the Lord to return, and the Lord must have returned. So, we must find a church that has the work of the Holy Spirit and follow God’s footsteps. Some people, however, dare not go out seeking and investigating, thinking that there would be false Christs in the last days. For the Lord Jesus said: “And then if any man shall say to you, See, here is Christ; or, see, he is there; believe him not: For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect” (Mark 13:21–22). Many of us believers expound the prophesies according to our notions and imagination, thinking that all news preaching the Lord has returned is false. As long as we don’t listen or read, we’ll not be deceived. But, is this really after the Lord’s will? If we always keep to such notions, being passive and guarding against all the news, will we ignore someone who says that the Lord has returned and miss the opportunity of being raptured into the kingdom of heaven?

What Is Jesus Christ’s New Name Upon His Second Coming?

Focus on God’s Names: Mystery Series of Jehovah, Jesus and the Almighty: Episode III—Will God Change His Name When He Returns

Through the former two fellowships, many brothers and sisters in the Lord show that never have they known such great significance of God’s names, much less the backgrounds of God’s choice of His names and the desire of God, despite that they have believed in the Lord for years. Moreover, they have never considered that each of God’s names represents one part of the disposition of God and represents the work of God in one age. Now, we’ll continue to fellowship about the truth of God’s name. Before our fellowship, let’s first give some thought to the following: When God came to perform His work of redemption, He changed His name from Jehovah to Jesus. Then will God change His name when He comes again?

When Jesus Returns, Will He Still Take the Name of “Jesus”?

By Xiang Guangming

As believers in the Lord, we all know that God’s name is Jehovah in the Old Testament, and Jesus in the New Testament. We also know that the Lord once prophesied that He will come again in the last days. So here is a question: Will the Lord still be called Jesus when He returns? I believe most brothers and sisters will answer yes, because it is said in the Bible, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8), and “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). On the basis of these verses, we think God’s name will never change and the Lord will still be called Jesus when He comes again. But is this view correct?
