How Will Jesus Return? How Should We Welcome Him?

By Qianxun, America

Desolation Caused Confusion

As the night fell, Qianxun sat in the yard and enjoyed the cool night breeze after supper. Her husband came over with two fans and handed one to Qianxun, asking with concern: “What are you thinking? You look upset after coming back from the co-worker meeting. What happened? Tell me.”

I Understand What Rapture Is

Sept. 6, 2016

Dear Jiayin,

Peace to you in the Lord! Several months have flown by. How are you recently? I remember when we studied the Bible together, we often read 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, which says, “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” Whenever we saw these words, we were very excited and could not help but feel sweet. We would even grin from ear to ear in our dreams. We believed that upon the Lord’s return, we which are alive should be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. What a glorious scene that would be! However, after I came to Japan, through my fellowship with the brothers and sisters here, I understand: These verses are Paul’s words, not the Lord Jesus’ words. Paul’s word isn’t the truth; even more so, it cannot take the place of the truth. Only the Lord Jesus’ word is the truth. We should believe in the Lord according to His word, and cannot take man’s word as the goal of our pursuit. “Being caught up” mentioned in these words isn’t what we think. In the past, we all thought the “being caught up” in scripture meant that the Lord’s return would bring all those who held onto the Lord’s name into the air and then they would live in heaven. Actually, our thinking is wrong. The reason why we think that way is because we don’t understand the true meaning of these verses. Regarding this issue, brothers and sisters have communicated with me about the truth of this aspect, so that I understand what true rapture is. Now I’ll share my experience with you.

Will Sinners Such as Us Go to Heaven Upon Jesus Coming Back?

By Wang Zhen

It is said in the Bible, “For with the heart man believes to righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made to salvation” (Romans 10:10). Many of us therefore believe that by believing in the Lord Jesus, we are already saved and once saved always saved, so when the Lord returns we will automatically be raptured into the kingdom of heaven. However, some brothers and sisters feel perplexed: We commit sins in the day and confess them at night, and often lose our tempers at people; we frequently tell lies and are capable of deceiving people and God, and haven’t become as a little child. God is holy, and absolutely no sinner is permitted to enter the kingdom of heaven. So, will the Lord rapture people like us when He returns?

Will the Lord Jesus Come as a Thief or Come Upon a Cloud?

Will the Lord Jesus Come as a Thief or Come Upon a Cloud?

By Xiaoxi

Shufen was a co-worker of a church. During her fifteen years of believing in the Lord, she had been actively serving in the church and been yearning for the Lord to soon return and raise her up into the heavenly kingdom. She thought, “Now is already the end of the last days. All the prophecies in the Bible concerning the Lord’s return have basically been fulfilled. Particularly in recent years, the four consecutive blood moons appeared, famines, plagues, typhoons, earthquakes, mudslides, and wars are occurring one after another in countries around the world. Some people even heard mysterious sound of trumpets in many places, which is earth-shattering.” Shufen felt that the day of the Lord’s return should be soon. To be able to welcome the Lord’s return, she recently led the brothers and sisters to discuss the way for the Lord to return. Unexpectedly, they split on this matter, and two opinions were formed. They were at a stalemate. Some brothers and sisters said that the Lord would publicly appear with clouds to all people and all nations when He comes, as the Bible says, “He comes with clouds; and every eye shall see Him” (Revelation 1:7). But, some said that the Lord would come in secret to steal treasures, which was based on the prophecy in Revelation, “I will come on you as a thief” (Revelation 3:3). And even after several gatherings, they still couldn’t reach a definite conclusion. Shufen was at her wits’ end now, and she herself also couldn’t figure out how the Lord would appear to man when He returns. Since both opinions of the brothers and sisters were based on the Bible, it was really hard to judge which of them was right. She was troubled so much that she couldn’t eat or sleep well those days, totally being at a loss as to what to say to the brothers and sisters about this matter.

How to Prepare for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ

How to Prepare for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ

By Li Chunmei, South Korea

Editor’s Note:

Some Christians believe “When the Lord returns, He will certainly appear to all of humanity on a cloud in a spiritual body. Any testimony about the Lord’s return as incarnate is false.” The author also held this belief, and so put her guard up when hearing that the Lord has become flesh to appear and work. How did she finally relax her guard and welcome the Lord’s return?

Can We Be Justified by Faith? – Bible Study Topics

Some Christians think that they are no longer sinners, but are justified by believing in the Lord Jesus, and that they will be taken into the kingdom of heaven when the Lord returns. It is written in the Bible, “Whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believes in Jesus” (Romans 3:25-26). So they consider that, with Jesus Christ acting as their sin offering, as long as they repent to the Lord, their sins can be forgiven, and thus they can be justified through the redemption of Jesus. However, whether or not we have ever thought: It is true that our sins have been forgiven through our faith in the Lord Jesus, but does this mean that we are righteous men and are no longer of sin?

What Does It Mean to Be Born Again?

By Yanxi

sunrise and man

Speaking of being born again, I believe that all the brothers and sisters in the Lord know it and may think of the dialogue between the Lord Jesus and Nicodemus recorded in the Bible, “Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus said to him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said to you, You must be born again” (John 3:3-7). The Lord Jesus told us that a man cannot enter into the kingdom of God unless he is born again, and that anyone who is not reborn will be eliminated by God. As can be seen, this requirement of the Lord Jesus is of great concern for every one of us that believes in and follows God.

I’m a Christian. Since I believed in the Lord, I have been enjoying the Lord’s grace and blessings, but recently I couldn’t feel the Lord’s presence.
