When Jesus Returns, Will He Still Take the Name of “Jesus”?

By Xiang Guangming

As believers in the Lord, we all know that God’s name is Jehovah in the Old Testament, and Jesus in the New Testament. We also know that the Lord once prophesied that He will come again in the last days. So here is a question: Will the Lord still be called Jesus when He returns? I believe most brothers and sisters will answer yes, because it is said in the Bible, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8), and “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). On the basis of these verses, we think God’s name will never change and the Lord will still be called Jesus when He comes again. But is this view correct?

Men Loved Darkness Rather Than Light – John 3:19

Today’s Verse

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

-John 3:19

Thoughts on Today’s Bible Verse:

When the light comes into the world, in theory man should be happy. Why did Jesus say that men love darkness rather than light? At that time, in order to save those who were bound by the law, Jesus became flesh to do the work of redemption. Jesus did lots of things that didn’t conform to people’s notions and the Pharisees were afraid that the Israelites would follow Jesus and they would lose their status, so they condemned and resisted Jesus constantly. They scolded that Jesus did not observe the Sabbath and judge Him as an ordinary man. Thus, they were condemned by God. By contrary, those who were wise could put aside their notions and imaginations, and seek the truth. It is like Peter: He could humbly listen to the word of the Lord and knew the Lord from His words, finally the Lord praised him and gave him the keys to the kingdom of heaven. It can be seen that God loves those who can listen to His words and accept His salvation. A passage of words crossed my mind, “Put aside your view of ‘impossible’! The more that people believe something is impossible, the more likely it is to occur, for the wisdom of God soars higher than the heavens, God’s thoughts are higher than man’s thoughts, and the work of God transcends the limits of man’s thinking and conception. The more that something is impossible, the more there is the truth to be sought; the more that something is beyond the conception and imagination of man, the more it contains the will of God. Because no matter where God reveals Himself, God is still God, and His substance will never change because of the location or manner of His appearance. The disposition of God remains the same regardless of where His footprints are. No matter where the footprints of God are, He is the God of all mankind. For example, the Lord Jesus is not only the God of Israelites, but is also the God of all people in Asia, Europe, and America, and even more the only God in the entire universe. So let us seek God’s will and discover His appearance from His utterances, and follow His footprints!” If we wish to welcome the Lord’s return, we need to transcend our notions and imaginations, and learn to seek the truth. God’s wisdom is unfathomable, so we need to humbly seek where God’s words are. We should follow the Lamb wherever He goes.

Follow the Lamb’s Footsteps, Regain the Work of the Holy Spirit

By Qiuhai, Malaysia

Following the Lord Jesus

I have believed in the Lord for 23 years. In the very beginning, when my wife preached the Lord Jesus’ gospel to me, I didn’t accept it for fear that my parents would be against it because they all worshiped idols. By chance, I went to a church, and when I heard a pastor read the Lord Jesus’ words “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me” (John 14:6), instantly I was filled with peace and joy. In the past, when my wife told me that the souls of the believers in the Lord Jesus would be received to the heavenly kingdom, I didn’t believe it. Not until that day did I know it was true. On that day, I prayed with determination and started to believe in the Lord Jesus.

The Story of Being Reunited With the Lord: Listening to God’s Voice and Welcoming the Lord

I used to be a preacher in a house church. I have worked for the Lord for many years, and have been looking forward to the return of the Lord Jesus. In 1996, I heard someone say that The Church of Almighty God was bearing witness that the Lord Jesus had returned in the flesh, and was doing the judgment work. However, in my opinion, the Lord should return as His resurrected spiritual body on a cloud, appearing to us openly. Since we haven’t seen anything like that, how could anyone say He’s come back? So, I never listened to the sermons of The Church of Almighty God.

Love the Lord Your God With All Your Heart. A Commentary on Matthew 22:37

Today’s Verse

Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.

-Matthew 22:37

Thoughts on Today’s Bible Verse:

This is the most important commandment. The Lord hopes that we can love Him with all our heart, with all our mind, and without our impurity or demands, or misunderstandings of God or suspicion. He hopes that we can love Him more than love our family and marriage, and expend our whole life for Him.

The Most Common Pitfall Regarding the Lord’s Return

By Fangxia, South Korea

In 2018, I finally welcomed the Lord’s return and attended the wedding feast of the Lamb, enjoying the watering and sustenance of the living waters. But I’m filled with regret every time I think of how time after time I rejected God’s work of the last days, nearly missing out on my chance to meet with the Lord.

Three Key Elements of Being the Poor in Spirit

By Li Yang

When I was practicing spiritual devotions this morning, I saw the following verse in the Bible: “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:3), and I thought: Why did the Lord Jesus ask people to be the poor in spirit? And why shall the poor in spirit enter into the kingdom of heaven? As I was contemplating this, some thoughts came to my mind: When the Lord Jesus came to do work, much of His work vastly differed from the work of Jehovah God. For instance, Jehovah God did His work and guided people in the temple, and His requirements of them were complying with the laws and the commandments, making sacrifices, and worshiping Him in the temple; while when the Lord Jesus came, He did not do His work in the temple. Instead, He led His disciples to the towns and villages to spread the gospel of the kingdom of heaven, asking people to repent and confess their sins. And He told the people at that time: “The hour comes, when you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. … when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him” (John 4:21–23). As for how to treat the evil, Jehovah God required “Eye for eye, tooth for tooth” of people (Exodus 21:24), whereas the Lord Jesus said: “You have heard that it has been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say to you, That you resist not evil: but whoever shall smite you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also” (Matthew 5:38–39). And so on. At that time people all held fast to Jehovah God’s laws. If they were not humble, did not seek the will of God, they would be much likely to deny and condemn the Lord Jesus, not to mention accepting the Lord Jesus’ work, which is impossible. People didn’t know that the Lord Jesus came to carry out new work and lead humans to progress forward. Therefore, the Lord Jesus taught us to be a man with humility, hoping that we would not lightly jump to conclusions or judge the things we don’t understand, but seek more. Only in this way can we be protected rather than be punished and lose the opportunity to enter into the kingdom of heaven because of blindly condemning God and thus offending His disposition.

I Have a Brand New Knowledge of the Final Judgment – A Christian’s Diary

By Liu Ming

April 12 Sunny

Today, in the gathering, our pastor read several verses about the judgment of the last days, “And as it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:11-15). After reading these verses, our pastor said, “In the last days, when the Lord returns, He’ll erect a big table in the heavens to carry out judgment. The Lord will sit on the great white throne with several millions of angels around Him, and open the book of life and the book of the dead. Then, people will be brought before the throne one by one to receive His righteous judgment. There stands something like a screen, which will present our lifetime of actions and behavior. Then, God will determine our destination and ending according to our behavior: Those who do evil and those whose names aren’t recorded in the book of life, will be thrown into the hell to suffer the punishment, while those who do good and obey the Lord’s way will have their names recorded in the book of life and enter the kingdom of heaven, receiving the eternal life. This is the work of judgment carried out by the Lord in the last days.”

Listening to the pastor’s sermon, I imagined many majestic and spectacular scenes: The dead are brought before the throne one by one to receive God’s judgment, as if criminals are judged by the judge. Some are on their knees begging for mercy; some are weeping and gnashing their teeth. … I realized that the judgment was to punish the evil, reward the good, and determine our ending according to our behavior. “So as long as I pursue actively and act in accordance with the Lord’s words, I’ll certainly be raptured into the kingdom of heaven and gain the eternal life when the Lord returns.” At the thought of this, I felt cheerful inside.
