The Bible Reading Made Easy App—A Convenient and Easy Tool for Bible Study

Reading the Bible is a daily must for Christian devotionals and it’s also a way to draw near to God. However, because we often find no light when reading the Scriptures, we’re likely going through the motions and even becoming less willing to read the Bible, which then causes our relationship with God to become more and more distant. Do you have the same problem? How can we read the Bible effectively?

Following the recommendation of my brothers and sisters, I installed an app—Bible Reading Made Easy.

Should We Seek the Lord With Our Ears or by Sight to Welcome His Return?

The last days are now upon us, so how can we welcome the Lord? Based on what’s written in the Book of Revelation, some believe that the Lord will come back in His resurrected spiritual body and appear to mankind on a cloud, so welcoming the Lord based on what we see is the safest bet. However, some brothers and sisters take this verse into consideration: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20). They believe the Lord has told us that in the last days, He will speak to knock on our doors.

There are also a lot of people online bearing witness that the Lord has already returned, that they’ve already heard God’s voice and welcomed the Lord. Can we really just rely on what we see without listening for the voice of God? What can we do to welcome the Lord? Should we greet the Lord by listening for God’s voice, or only believing what we see?

Will the Lord Jesus Come as a Thief or Come Upon a Cloud?

What Attitude Do We Hold Toward Prophecies of Jesus’ Return?

Every Christian wants to welcome the Lord’s return and be raptured into the heavenly kingdom; I’m not an exception. I paid special attention to the prophecies about the Lord’s return. As long as I heard who could interpret the biblical prophecies, I would hurry to listen. But as I gradually received many interpretations of prophecies, I became increasingly confused about them, because they were all explained according to their literal meaning and different people had different explanations of them. Take interpreting prophecies about the Lord’s return for example. Some people said the Lord would descend on the Mount of Olives, some said in the air, some said upon a cloud, some said He would come in the daytime, some said at night, some said He would come like a thief, and so forth. Though all these interpretations were based on the Bible, yet no matter what I was told about, I still didn’t know how the Lord would return. Then how should I treat the biblical prophecies in accordance with the Lord’s will? And in what way could I welcome the Lord? They were the confusion in my mind.

What Does Being Saved Mean? Does It Mean Receiving Full Salvation?

Regarding salvation, many brothers and sisters say with confidence: “The Bible says: ‘That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes to righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made to salvation’ (Romans 10:9–10). We have received salvation at the cross of the Lord Jesus and if we only believe in our hearts and confess our sin with our mouths, we will be forgiven—we are already saved, so we have full salvation and when the Lord comes, we will definitely enter the kingdom of heaven.” Is this viewpoint of ours actually correct? Does having our sins forgiven and being saved really mean we have full salvation? We really need to communicate this issue clearly, because it is directly connected to our entering the kingdom of heaven, a great matter.

First, we need to recognize the fact that we have undeniably received the redemption of the Lord Jesus; however, has our sinful nature been resolved? Does God forgiving our sins mean that we are now purified? As for us, if we take a look at ourselves and how most of our brothers and sisters around us live out their lives, we see that the vast majority of us follow the ways of the world; when we encounter an issue we lack tolerance and patience, and are unable to put the words of the Lord into practice. We live our old lives of sinning by day and confessing by night. Can those of us who sin so frequently really already be fully saved? Will we really get into the kingdom of heaven in the future? In the Bible, it has been recorded: “Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin. And the servant stays not in the house for ever: but the Son stays ever” (John 8:34–35). “For I am Jehovah your God: you shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy” (Leviticus 11:44). “Holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14). From these verses we see that God is holy, His kingdom is holy and God will not allow unclean people to enter His kingdom. Even though our sins are forgiven, our sinful nature is still within us and we are not free from the bondage of sin. We live within a vicious cycle of sinning and confessing and are not at all purified. Frequent sinning makes us servants of sin. How could a servant of sin enter the kingdom of God? Therefore, the argument that having our sins forgiven means attaining full salvation and getting into the kingdom of heaven does not hold up.

What does “being saved” mean here? We all know that under the Age of Law, God issued the law and the commandments through Moses to lead the Israelites in their life on earth. In those days, the Israelites only had to keep the law and commandments and they would not be condemned. Any offenders had to offer a sacrifice to atone for their sin, or they would be punished. Therefore, the people of those days abided scrupulously by the law and no one dared to violate it. Toward the end of the Age of Law, people sinned more and more as their corruption by Satan grew deeper and deeper. There were no longer enough sacrifices to atone for their sins and everyone was at risk of being put to death in accordance with the law. God could not bear to see the people He had created so devoured by Satan, so God became flesh and came to earth to act as man’s sin offering by being nailed to the cross, thus rescuing man out from living under the law. Since then, if we only believe in the Lord Jesus our sins can be forgiven. We no longer suffer condemnation for failing to uphold the law; that is, we are saved by the Lord’s redemption. It is clear, then, that “being saved” is us believing in the Lord Jesus, being forgiven of our sins by repenting before the Lord, and no longer being subject to being put to death by the law. Not only that, but it also means being able to enjoy the peace, joy and abundant grace bestowed upon us by the Lord Jesus. This is what we commonly refer to as the true meaning of “being saved” by faith.

Let’s read a couple of passages together: “A sinner such as you, who has just been redeemed, and has not been changed, or been perfected by God, can you be after God’s heart? For you, you who are still of your old self, it is true that you were saved by Jesus, and that you are not counted as a sinner because of the salvation of God, but this does not prove that you are not sinful, and are not impure. How can you be saintly if you have not been changed? Within, you are beset by impurity, selfish and mean, yet you still wish to descend with Jesus—you should be so lucky! You have missed a step in your belief in God: You have merely been redeemed, but you have not been changed. For you to be after God’s heart, God must personally do the work of changing and cleansing you; if you are only redeemed, you will be incapable of attaining sanctity. In this way you will be unqualified to share in the good blessings of God, for you have missed out a step in God’s work of managing man, which is the key step of changing and perfecting. You, a sinner who has just been redeemed, are therefore incapable of directly inheriting God’s inheritance.

The sins of man were forgiven through the agency of the incarnate God, but this did not mean that man no longer had sin within him. The sins of man could be forgiven through the sin offering, but as for just how man can be made to sin no more, and how his sinful nature may be extirpated completely and transformed, he has no way of solving this problem. The sins of man were forgiven, and this is because of the work of God’s crucifixion, but man continued to live within his corrupt satanic disposition of old. This being so, man must be completely saved from his corrupt satanic disposition, so that his sinful nature may be completely extirpated, never to develop again, thus enabling the disposition of man to be transformed.

From these two passages, we can see that we are indeed saved by the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus, but this salvation only means our sins are forgiven. It does not mean we are free from the bondage and control of sin. Since our sinful nature still exists, we often go against the teachings of the Lord and follow the lusts of the flesh and commit sins. It’s just as Paul once said: “For to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwells in me” (Romans 7:18–20). Paul’s words convey the inner voice of every brother and sister. We are often dominated by sin, manifesting all sorts of corrupt satanic dispositions. For instance, the Lord requires us to be honest people, but we often lie, deceive and cheat for our own advantage. In our interpersonal dealings, we plot against each other for personal gain. When we suffer through trials, we still misunderstand and blame God, even distancing ourselves from Him or betraying Him. When God’s work does not conform to our notions, we judge and condemn God at will. We follow God yet follow and adore man at the same time…. It is hard to free ourselves from this vicious cycle of sinning and then confessing. We are never able to break free from the bondage of sin, neither can we ever absolutely submit to God and be compatible with Him. How can this be called full salvation?

Do we still have hope of attaining full salvation and entering the kingdom of God? There are actually some verses in the Bible that have already revealed this to us. Let’s take a look. It is recorded in the Bible that: “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come” (John 16:12–13). “He that rejects Me, and receives not My words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:48). “Who are kept by the power of God through faith to salvation ready to be revealed in the last time” (1 Peter 1:5). “Behold, the judge stands before the door” (James 5:9). We can see from these verses that the Lord Jesus will come again in the last days and express the truth, doing a stage of work to judge and purify mankind, thoroughly saving us from sin, allowing us to escape the bondage of sin, and ultimately making us compatible with God. We will become people who fear God and submit to Him. Achieving such an outcome must be accomplished by God’s work of judgment in the last days. Only through the judgment and revelation of the word of God can we understand the truth of our corruption by Satan as well as our natures and essences; only then can we understand God’s righteousness, majesty and inviolable disposition. Only then can we have true remorse and repentance, and have the resolve to despise the flesh and forsake Satan. We can then develop God-fearing heart; we can break away completely from the evil influence of Satan, fully turn to God and be gained by God. As our understanding of the truth deepens, we will submit more and more to God and practice the truth more and more. This way, before we even realize, we will entirely cast off sin and be purified. Only then can we attain full salvation and enter the kingdom of God. It is clear that only when we accept the judgment and chastisement of God’s words in the last days can we understand the truth, know God, fully break free from Satan’s influence and throw off Satan’s corrupt disposition. Then we can live by the truth and by the word of God—this is the true meaning of full salvation. This requires us to pray more regarding welcoming the Lord’s return, to seek it with humility and to attentively heed “what the Spirit says to the churches.” Only then can we welcome God’s appearance, experience God’s work of judgment in the last days, be purified and be fully saved. Thank the Lord—may the Lord’s salvation in the last days come to us soon!

Reverence for God – Sovereignty of God

Lin Hao

In the daytime, when gazing upon the heavens, we can see the bright blue sky, the rising sun and the rosy dawn. At night, sometimes the moon shines brightly, sometimes the crescent moon appears, and sometimes skies are full of stars, which are arranged and moving in their orbits in an orderly manner, without any disorder both in angles and in speeds. We can’t help but ask ourselves: How was the natural world formed? What mysteries does the infinite universe imply?

Do you know when Jesus will come back? This page will bring you the news of Jesus Christ’s return and lead you to welcome Him.

God’s says: “For several millennia, man has longed to be able to witness the arrival of the Savior. Man has longed to behold Jesus the Savior riding a white cloud as He descends, in person, among those who have pined and yearned for Him for thousands of years. Man has also longed for the Savior to return and be reunited with them; that is, longed for Jesus the Savior, who has been separated from people for thousands of years, to come back, and to once again carry out the work of redemption that He did among the Jews, to be compassionate and loving toward man, to forgive the sins of man and bear the sins of man, and even bear all of man’s transgressions and deliver man from sin. What man longs for is for Jesus the Savior to be the same as before—a Savior who is lovable, kind, and venerable, who is never wrathful toward man, and who never reproaches man, but who forgives and takes on all of man’s sins, and who will even, as before, die upon the cross for man. Since Jesus departed, the disciples who followed Him, as well as all of the saints who were saved in His name, have been desperately pining for Him and awaiting Him. All those who were saved by the grace of Jesus Christ during the Age of Grace have been longing for that exultant day in the last days when Jesus the Savior descends on a white cloud to appear before all people. Of course, this is also the collective wish of all those who accept the name of Jesus the Savior today. Everyone in the universe who knows of the salvation of Jesus the Savior has been desperately yearning for Jesus Christ to suddenly arrive to fulfill what Jesus said while on earth: “I shall arrive just as I departed.” Man believes that, following the crucifixion and resurrection, Jesus went back to heaven upon a white cloud to take His place at the Most High’s right hand. In like manner, Jesus shall descend again upon a white cloud (this cloud refers to the cloud that Jesus rode upon when He returned to heaven), among those who have desperately yearned for Him for thousands of years, and He shall bear the image and wear the clothing of the Jews. After appearing to man, He shall bestow food upon them, and cause living water to gush forth for them, and shall live among man, full of grace and full of love, vivid and real. All such notions are what people believe. Yet Jesus the Savior did not do this; He did the opposite of what man conceived. He did not arrive among those who had yearned for His return, and He did not appear to all people while riding upon the white cloud. He has already arrived, but man does not know, and remains ignorant. Man is merely awaiting Him aimlessly, unaware that He has already descended upon a “white cloud” (the cloud which is His Spirit, His words, His entire disposition and all that He is), and is now among a group of overcomers that He will make during the last days. Man does not know this: Despite all the affection and love the holy Savior Jesus has for man, how can He work in those “temples” inhabited by filth and impure spirits? Though man has been awaiting His arrival, how could He appear to those who eat the flesh of the unrighteous, drink the blood of the unrighteous, and wear the clothes of the unrighteous, who believe in Him but do not know Him, and who constantly extort Him? Man knows only that Jesus the Savior is full of love and overflowing with compassion, and that He is the sin offering, filled with redemption. However, man has no idea that He is God Himself, who is brimming with righteousness, majesty, wrath, and judgment, possessed of authority, and full of dignity. Therefore, even though man eagerly yearns for and craves the return of the Redeemer, and even their prayers move “Heaven,” Jesus the Savior does not appear to those who believe in Him but do not know Him.

Why Was the Samaritan Woman Able to Recognize Jesus as the Messiah?

Editor’s Note:
All those brothers and sisters who sincerely believe in the Lord are eagerly looking forward to the return of the Lord Jesus. But how should we welcome the Lord’s return and obtain His salvation in the last days? I believe that from the story of the Samaritan woman we can find the answers.

Presumably many of us believers are familiar with the story of the Samaritan woman recorded in the Bible. When she drew water, she met the Lord Jesus, who asked her for a drink. From her exchange with the Lord Jesus, she recognized that He was the Messiah foretold in the prophecies.

She was just an ordinary woman and didn’t have much Bible knowledge, but she was able to do so. This is really amazing. All of us know that, within those three and a half years that the Lord Jesus worked on earth, many people once contacted Him for a short time, and moreover, there were many who heard Him speak. However, there were too few who were able to recognize that He was the Messiah. Then, how did the Samaritan woman do it? Was it because of the Lord Jesus’ special grace? Or was there any secret behind it? Let’s read her story to look for answers to these questions together.

“God Is the Source of Man’s Life” (Excerpt 258)

From the moment you come crying into this world, you begin to perform your duty. You assume your role in the plan of God and in the ordination of God. You begin the journey of life. Whatever your background and whatever the journey ahead of you, none can escape the orchestration and arrangement that Heaven has in store, and none are in control of their destiny, for only He who rules over all things is capable of such work. Since the day man came into existence, God has been steady in His work, managing this universe and directing the change and movement of all things. Like all things, man quietly and unknowingly receives the nourishment of the sweetness and rain and dew from God. Like all things, man unknowingly lives under the orchestration of God’s hand. The heart and spirit of man are held in the hand of God, and all the life of man is beheld in the eyes of God. Regardless of whether or not you believe this, any and all things, living or dead, will shift, change, renew, and disappear according to God’s thoughts. This is how God rules over all things.

Treat Other As You Want to be Treated – Matthew 7:12

Today’s Verse

Therefore all things whatever you would that men should do to you, do you even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Matthew 7:12

Thoughts on Today’s Bible Verse:

While pray-reading this verse, I remember what happened to me recently. One of my colleagues was my church sister. We had a good relationship. We often studied together at work and helped each other. There was a period of time when I often made mistakes. She would remind me of my deficiencies and inadequacies. I thought what she said was all correct and was my real problems. Afterward, we were separated to work in different departments. She then never came to see me again. Gradually, I had some opinions on her. I thought we were so close to each other before, why didn’t she send me even a message when I most needed comfort and encouragement? Could it be that her care to me was all fake? The more I thought this way, the darker I felt in my spirit. Amid suffering, I came before God in prayer: May God show me how to treat it. Not long after I prayed that prayer, I came across a very good article “The Principle of Sharing From the Heart”, which showed me God’s will and many paths of practice. One of the passage said, “If the brothers and sisters are to be able to confide in each other, help each other out, and provide for one another when they are together, then each person must speak of their own true experiences. … If people have no verbal or spiritual communication, there is no possibility of intimacy between them, and they can’t provide to each other or help one another. Do you have such a feeling? If your friend says everything to you, saying all of what they’re thinking in their heart, and what suffering or happiness they have in their heart, then do you not feel particularly intimate with them? That they are willing to tell these things to you is because you have also spoken of the words in your heart to them—you are especially close, and it is because of this that you are able to get along with them and help each other out. Without this among the brothers and sisters in the church, there would never be harmony among the brothers and sisters, which is one of the requisites of being honest.”

After Listening with My Heart, I Have Welcomed the Lord’s Return

Max United States

In 1994, I was born in the United States. My parents are both Chinese. My mother was the classic example of a successful career woman. She is able to think for herself and is very competent. I love my mother very much. When I was in Grade 2, my parents brought me back to China to study so that I would be able to learn Chinese. It was also at that time that I started to get acquainted with the Lord Jesus. I remember one day in 2004, after I got home from school, there was a guest at our house. My mother introduced her and told me that she was a pastor from the United States. I was very happy because that was when I found out that my mother had believed in the Lord Jesus for some time. Before, she did not believe. Every Chinese New Year, she would burn incense and worship Buddha. However, after my mother started to believe in the Lord Jesus, I no longer had to smell the whiff of bueternal lifernt paper money and incense. That day, the American pastor told me a story about the Lord Jesus. Soon after, I was brought to the bathroom and before I could react, “plop,” the pastor had dunked my head into the bathtub and after a moment, pulled my head out. All I heard was my mother and the pastor telling me, “Welcome to the embrace of the Lord Jesus. We are all lost sheep.” In this way, I started a new life journey before I knew it. However, because the Lord was with me, my heart was very happy. Afterward, each Sunday, I would go to church to worship and listen to the pastor talk about Bible stories and read from the scriptures. I was very happy all along. My heart was steadfast and I felt that believing in the Lord Jesus was truly a good thing.
