The Meaning of Matthew 24:27—Revealing the Prophecy of the Coming of the Son of Man

Today’s Verse

The Lord Jesus said, “For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even to the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”

Matthew 24:27

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

Jesus Christ’s words tell us that in the last days, He will come as the lightning that comes out of the east and shines even to the west. How will this prophecy be fulfilled? It is said in Revelation, “He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Rev 2:7). From this we can see that when Jesus Christ comes again, He will speak the words of the Holy Spirit to the churches. God’s word is the true light, and will be like the lightning that shoots from the East straight to the West. Eastern Lightning is the second coming of Jesus Christ. Because of lightning’s coming out of the East, those who live in the dark world finally see the appearance of the true light and have the hope of salvation. Thus, only by paying attention to hearing God’s word and accepting His appearance and His work in the last days, can we follow the footsteps of the Lamb and live in the light of God.

The Peace of God – Isaiah 26:3

Today’s Verse

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you: because he trusts in you.

Isaiah 26:3

Thoughts on Today’s Bible Verse:

God created mankind and has been silently leading and supplying us. God entrusts every one of us with His hope. He hopes that we humans can know Him, submit to Him, worship Him, and enjoy His blessings and supply forever. However, after Satan corrupted us, we humans stray from God, rebel against God. Thus, we have no knowledge of God and no longer rely on Him. We always do things relying on our own hands and ability. The more we act this way, the less we feel God’s existence and His great power. Nor can we feel how God leads every day of our life. Our relationship with God becomes more and more distant. Without God’s guidance and leadership, we rely on our ability to do things. Even though we succeed in something, we feel empty and pained. There is no peace or joy in our hearts. This verse conveys the will of God to us. As long as we rely on God in all things, He will guide us, give us the wisdom and strength to face everything we encounter. In this way, we can live under God’s care and protection. Our hearts are at peace and reassured, our spirits are consoled.

When Jesus Returns, Will He Still Be Called Jesus?

After supper, Chen Engui was reading the Bible in the living room while his daughter-in-law, Li Huijuan and his wife, Wang Guizhi were clearing the dishes together.

Chen Weimin said thoughtfully, “Dad, I have been thinking about a question these last few days.”

Chen Engui asked with great interest, “Oh, what’s the question? Let me hear it.”

Chen Weimin said, “Several days ago, when attending the Bible study, I saw Revelation 3:12 says: “Him that overcomes will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my God: and I will write on him my new name.” From this verse, I saw that when the Lord returns in the last days, He will have a new name. So these days I have consulted the Bible and sought quite a few co-workers. I think that when the Lord comes again, He will not be called Jesus.”

Have You Found What the Way of Eternal Life Is?

We believers in the Lord all know that only God has the eternal way of eternal life. The Lord Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). In the Book of Revelation, it was also said that: “a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bore twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God gives them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever” (Revelation 22:1-5). Eternal life means to live forever, to never taste death. From these verses, we can see that only God has eternal life, only God is the source of life of us human beings, and only God has the way of eternal life. If we find God, we find the source of life, and only then will we truly gain the way of eternal life and never be afraid of the threat of death.

The Beam in Your Own Eye—A Commentary on Matthew 7:3–5

Today’s Verse

And why behold you the mote that is in your brother’s eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? Or how will you say to your brother, Let me pull out the mote out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of your own eye; and then shall you see clearly to cast out the mote out of your brother’s eye.

Bible Verse of the Day – Psalms 54:2

Today’s Verse

Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.

– Psalms 54:2

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

Prayer is a means by which we commune with God, and is also God’s basic requirement of us.

Looking back, Israelites attacked Jericho through prayer; the people of Nineveh repented and asked God to pardon them also through prayer. In our experiences, we also feel that we can unconsciously understand many things we did not understand through prayer; we’ll have faith and our spirit will become strong through prayer when facing dangers and hardships; God will lead us through adversity when we call out to Him in difficulties. We can really experience that there is so much significance in prayer. Share a passage of words, “Prayer is one of the ways in which man cooperates with God, it is a means by which man calls upon God, and it is the process by which man is touched by God’s Spirit. It can be said that those who are without prayer are dead ones without spirit, proof that they lack the faculties to be touched by God. Without prayer, they are unable to attain a normal spiritual life, much less are they able to follow the work of the Holy Spirit; without prayer, they sever their relationship with God, and are incapable of receiving God’s approval.

If we open our hearts to God and speak the words within our hearts to Him, we’ll definitely feel the power of prayer!

What Attitude Do We Hold Toward Prophecies of Jesus’ Return?

Every Christian wants to welcome the Lord’s return and be raptured into the heavenly kingdom; I’m not an exception. I paid special attention to the prophecies about the Lord’s return. As long as I heard who could interpret the biblical prophecies, I would hurry to listen. But as I gradually received many interpretations of prophecies, I became increasingly confused about them, because they were all explained according to their literal meaning and different people had different explanations of them. Take interpreting prophecies about the Lord’s return for example. Some people said the Lord would descend on the Mount of Olives, some said in the air, some said upon a cloud, some said He would come in the daytime, some said at night, some said He would come like a thief, and so forth. Though all these interpretations were based on the Bible, yet no matter what I was told about, I still didn’t know how the Lord would return. Then how should I treat the biblical prophecies in accordance with the Lord’s will? And in what way could I welcome the Lord? They were the confusion in my mind.
